Roland Hill, Architect of Disneyland's Famous "Sleeping Beauty Castle" Storybook Home on the Market
The gorgeous 1927 storybook built by Roland Hill, Architect of Disneyland's Famous Sleeping Beauty Castle is up for sale. You're seeing a sneak-peak here on the OrganizingLA Blog, as the Los Angeles Times will be featuring the home on the front cover of Sunday's Real Estate Section.
Braving the Los Angeles rain last evening to stop by the Open House, we grabbed a stylish snack catered by As You Like It Catering and Grub and sneaked past uncluttered closets, cubbards and kitchens. What an incredible property, lots of storage, lots of space-- this is truly going to be someone's wish-come-true, not just for it's efficient and forward-thinking organized layout, but also for it's beauty and grandeur. Check out the exquisite Cahuenga Pass photos and description below, with listing information courtesy of Brett Karns, Karn's Group LA and Keller Williams.
"Hill's whimsical style and talent for fine craftsmanship are detailed and apparent from the moment you step over the threshold. The original magnesite floors grace the grand foyer, complete with fainting couch and coved archways.
A beautifully remodeled kitchen complete with Viking Appliances, custom cabinetry and granite counter tops. A separate maid's room with bath can be accessed by a set of stairs just off the kitchen with a private patio and plenty of light.
Distressed hardwood floors flow throughout the massive step down living room and dining room with high cathedral ceilings,
wood burning fireplace, custom stained glass windows, French doors and a balcony with views of the Hollywood
Hills.
Through the turret and down the spiral staircase lays the master bedroom with his-and-hers closets, a laundry room/wine cellar and the third bedroom with a "Juliet" balcony overlooking the pool. Above the garage on this street-to-street lot sits a private guest house bungalow completely remodeled with it's own kitchenette and bath.
Keeping
the old world charm and tact during the recent renovation, this home is not complete without the lion's head feature or the medieval style found throughout this one of a kind property - proof that modern comforts and a piece of Hollywood history can work together to create a spectacular storybook home..."
Live in Los Angeles? If you get a chance to stop by the home located at 3268 Benett Drive, make sure you get a glimpse of the original 1927 photos and house plans-- pure eye candy.
So we ask, is this romantic home worthy of riding into the Sunset?

Thanks John, it's beautiful, and right up my alley aesthetically!
I always wanted to live in a Disneyland fairytale style house, and I'm always arguing with my architect friends that this kind of design is as valid as their modern, minimalist, form-follows-function kind of ideal.
We live in LA after all, fake has been the new real for decades!
