Fair Credit and Accurate Credit Transactions Act

The Fair And Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA), which became effective less than 1 year ago, has important implications for our professional organizing company-- OrganizingLA.

One of the objectives of FACTA is to protect consumers from identify theft, so the new law includes a "Disposal Rule," which requires that "any person that maintains or otherwise possesses consumer information... properly dispose of any such information."  This law, requires all businesses, no matter how small, to take "reasonable measures" to prevent unauthorized disclosure of consumer's financial information.

What the heck does this mean for you and for us?  For OrganizingLA, whether we work in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Philadephia, New York City or Palm Beach, that means that, now more than ever, we must take care to render sensitive information unreadable before discarding it.

Pottery Barn - New finds for the Organized Kitchen

With record-breaking mid-summer heat hitting SoCal, it's hardly time to think about cooking in 'la cucina.  Soupe à l'Oignon, tian de Poivrons etd'aubergines aux anchois or simple veal shank hardly sounds appetizing when Hollywood hits 100-degrees.

The new Pottery Barn early fall catalog arrived this week, full of new, upscale kitchen looks-- which of course got us thinking about cooking when the weather cools down.  What's most striking are the new organizing accessories for the kitchen.  If you're an enterprising Julia Child, you've got to see the new gear for storing your stuff:

eNook - Wall Mounted Organizing Workstation

A charging charging station that doesn't create desk crap?

While reading Dwell yesterday on the LA Metro tunneling through to Downtown, we found Anthro Technology's new wall-mounted, organizing charging workstation:  the eNook.  It charges, it stores, it fits where you don't have a lot of room.  Channels sit inside for ya' to plug-in and charge all your electronic crap.  The unit flips up to store your laptop, or flips down to and you have a handy desk.

There's even a bulletin board cleverly hidden underneath a fabric covered back panel.  Noice.

At just $400, it's still cheaper than a desk and a whole lot handier.

The designer deserves a medal for this one.

Philippe Starck - Space Enhancing Chairs

So we know they're not "new" by any stretch of the imagination-- but we ran into Kartell on Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood last week.  Philippe Starck has his luscious line of summery transparent chairs this organizing evangelist loves.  We also ran into the chairs at Barney's last December, while shopping for holiday cards.  'Guess there's just no getting around it:  we need one now--  chop chop.
