Terry's Fabrics: Interior Design Insights with John Trosko

This past week Terry's Fabrics, a United Kingdom based fabric and home furnishings store asked me to participate in some trend-forecasting for their "Designer Insights" series. Not only do I choose my top pics of the season, but I talk about my design style and aesthetic, creative process and who inspires my work. Organizing product trends for 2015

 

What are the hot new trends for organizing products in 2015? Simple: Everything metallic and copper (storage boxes, suitcases, vessels), trays covered in raffia (for the nightstand, den-- anywhere because they're covered in fabric and won't scratch) and chunky open Parson's storage (great for a stylish storage area, family room or small business office).

John's Spring Organization Tips Featured in May 2014 Real Simple Magazine

 

Real Simple Magazine features John Trosko of OrganizingLA in the May 2014 issue, available on newstands now.

 

The Editors at Real Simple Magazine contacted John last January to work on a fun decluttering story for their May 2014 issue. They asked him to imagine that if he was given $500 for an average home—and tell them the must-haves he would buy to declutter, and how would he use each.

For the story, John used a mix of organizational products from different stores including Muji, CB2, Better Office, Uline and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Along with our expertise in "31 Days To Get Organized Now" we worked alongside professional organizing colleagues Beth Zeigler (Bneato, Los Angeles), Stacey Platt (Dwell Well, New York City) and Barbara Reich (Resourceful Consultants, New York City).

Coastal Living Magazine Features John Trosko's Pretty & Profitable Tag Sale Tips

 

What an absolute thrill it was to get a call from Coastal Living Magazine last August, to provide expertise for (what became) a piece called "A Whale of a Tag Sale!" The piece is now published in the April 2012 issue and available on news stands.

The writer was putting together a story on tag sales. But not just any tag sale-- picture perfect tag sales that bring in neighbors and tourist beach goers, along with styled vignettes, tips on choosing merchandise and spreading the word. All with an easy breezy beach-side casual style. No matter what you call them-- tag sale, yard sale, garage sale, moving or junk sale, beach auction--these sales are a great way to declutter your life, make some cash, and meet your neighbors.

How cool would it be to gather 100 experts from all over the world to pool their collective wisdom on fitness, relationship, sex life, self-esteem, career, finances and life in general?

That's what FHM Magazine did for their current September 2011 issue, on newsstands now. We were interviewed recently for a feature article on self improvement for men: 100 Micro-Improvements: A Year To Perfection. The whole piece is chock full easily implementable advice, small things you can do to make your life easier and happier.

I'll be appearing on "Living Today" on the Martha Stewart Radio Network on Monday, April 25 with spring organizing tips.
